I enjoyed reading "Never mind winter, put a spring in your step!" by Alexandra Shulman editor of Vogue, this Saturdays Daily Mail (they are putting it on their website as we speak so will post the link asap). I love the idea of huge 1950's skirts but i'm not really sure I will be able to carry this look off in summer, let alone winter. I feel I've barely had a chance to exploit the Autumn Winter 07 trends particularly the lady like 40's look and i'm not sure i'm ready to move onto a whole new fifties silloutte yet.
The fifties skirts sound great and I'm sure look lovely but if they have the potential to make my bum look big, I will be approaching them with caution. Even more concerning to me, is the potential for a large floaty skirt to end up wrapped around my head in the blizzards, gale force winds and generally miserable British winter. I have promised my self I will take a much more practical approach to fashion this winter after a near nasty incident in a pair of high heels on a particularly icy day last year.
No, I think I can wait until Spring for this particular fashion, when I will have lost some of my christmas induced flab and will be able to do it justice. For those who are brave and fashion forward enough to try out this new look or for those who would like a preview of what is around the corner for spring, here are some of my favourites:
