Maxi Dresses

After my previous post on jumpsuits, all in ones and playsuits, you could be forgiven for thinking that I only every where all in one outfits. I have always and will always love dresses and this season the maxi dress is defintely one of my favourite styles. Some may think that the maxi dress is not for everyone, but I am a firm believer that there is a maxi dress (or two or three or for) out there for everyone - what a lovely thought!

Petites - Avoid Gypsy skirts as the volume of these will only make you look shorter and wider instead opt for more fitted styles and chunky wedge heels to complete the look. Also opt for block colours and small prints to keep the look in proportion. This Tropical Maxi is perfect a small print and not too much volume.

Tall - You will look great in almost any style of maxi dress. Try this French Connection Maxi dress in a gorgeous bright and summery print.

Pear Shape - The maxi dress is great for disguising a large lower half. Keep the top fitted to keep the whole look proportioned Look for tops with detail to draw the eye upwards. Try this bright Limited Collection Maxi Dress.

Apple Shape - A line maxi dresses will look great on you. The material will skim over your stomach without adding too much volume. This Waver dress by Day Birger and Mikkelsen will look gorgeous.

Bigger Bust - Maxi dresses can be a bit tricky for those with a bigger bust. Avoid spaghetti straps. A halterneck top will be the most flattering make sure it is a really good fit. Try this elegant satin maxi, perfect for a special occasion.

Larger Ladies - Maxi dresses are a flattering and feminine style for larger ladies go for bold and bright large scale prints for a great effect. Try this Shevon Maxi Dress by Malene Birger.
