All Layered up

The weather can't make up its mind and I suspect this is a sign of things to come for autumn and winter this year. One minute I'm hot, the next I am cold. A great trend for the British Autumn and Winter is the layered look that was apparent at the designer shows. There were a few different takes on the layering idea.

Akris

Dries Van Noten

The short dress over trousers look has been around for a while now. At Akris, AF Vandervorst and Dries Van Noten a new layer was added over the top with a shorter fitted jacket. This isa great new way to wear the trouser suit and definitely one that I want to try. Drie Van Noten also added colour, texture and pattern into the equation which I think may be a difficult look to pull off and perhaps one best left to the designers. Being a petite the one coloured and fitted layers will most defintely work better.

At Threeasfour, an evening dress was layered over trousers for a really great look and great in the cold weather - how practical!

I guess when it comes to layering the same old rules always apply - especially for petites. Choose thin, longer, fairly well fitting clothes for the underlayers and stick to non bulky styles that will just make you look like Michellin man. A really easy way to wear this trend would be a plian black tunic dress with black trousers and a short fitted jacket.
