An Asymmetrical garment seems to have a very flattering effect with a top slimming the torso, a dress elongating the body and a skirt slimming the legs. I suppose the diagonal line tricks the eye into seeing a something as longer than it really is - a classic optical illusion. Asymmetrical clothes are everywhere at the moment from Grecian style dresses to draped tops and diagonally hemmed skirts and it doesn't just have to be the shape or cut of an outfit that has to be asymmetrical to make this trick work, a diagonal pattern will also have the same effect. Here are some of the best of flattering asymmetry that the shops have to offer.
