The title of this post is best way I could think of describing the autumn winter collection of designer Sophie Hulme, who launched her label last year after graduating from Kingston University and is already stocked in Selfridges, B store and the Convenience Store (in Westbourne Park, London) as well as gaining commentary in some of the most influential fashion publications including Elle, Fashion 156 and Drapers.
The autumn winter 08 collection strikes me as being, very much for ladies on a mission with a sort of military theme. Sophie has managed to combine traditional urban street wear with glam sparkling night wear, by adding sequins creating a very wearable and edgy urban look that I am sure will be a hit. For me it combines glamour with practicality - something I love. It also screams personality - possibly not for shy retiring types. The sequin hat is my favourite.
I also love the idea of collecting a charm from each collection to create a necklace, perhaps a bit gimmicky but really appeals to the part of me that loves hoarding trinkets.
The Spring Summer 09 collection follows a similar theme of glamorising every day wear with sparkles, perhaps not quite as dramatic and urban but with a slightly more feminine side.
