Nina RicciActually this post has nothing to do with Gok Wan or going out with nothing or next to nothing on. Although that does apear to be a bit of a trend for spring summer 09, with thin, see through fabrics worn with nothing underneath at John Galliano, Nina Ricci and Louise Goldin to name but a few.
Anyway, I will get to the point. For spring summer 09, nude shades are big news. The nude range covers pale pinks, peaches, creams and beiges. Any colour that makes you look a bit like you are in the nude I suppose. I think this look works best when the clothes are interesting in terms of texture, pattern or shape. It is quite a difficult look to do well and you need to consider very carefully which shade of nude suits your colouring. I particularly like the ruffled and chiffon evening dresses in this shade.
My preference would be, rather than going completely nude, to add a few very brightly colouredaccessories in hot pink or juicy orange. Obviously not part of the catwalk trend for this season, but I think it would look good.

Nude was seen all over the major shows from Prada to Fendi. It looks great on the catwalk but difficult to pull off in the harsh light of day. I agree with Style eyes - break up with a bright colour. Maybe a bright pink lipstick so you don't look too washed out?
