Koi Suwannagate- In search of imperfection

Women’s Wear Daily named Koi Suwannagate’s S/S ’09 collection one of The Top Ten Collections of the season. I would have to agree that it is an amazing collection with huge attention paid to the minutest of detail. The clothes are fresh and exciting but also classic and timeless. They show a real artistic and creative flair with hand embellished designs and also beautifully draped shapes and flowing lines.

I particularly love the long grey, butterfly embellished dress, she has really managed to capture some of the beauty of nature in a simple and understated but very gorgeous way.

Koi is inspired by vintage and antique clothing and attracted to clothes that have taken time to be made. She likes clothes to combine femininity with imperfection. I have always thought that a little bit of imperfection for example clothes that don't quite match, a piece of jewellery that is not in keeping with the style of the clothes or just a completely over accessorised outfit, add to the charm of the outfit and are what gives many people their own unique and recognisable style. Although I haven't yet spotted much in the way of imperfection in this collection.
