Bronx Shoes

I am a big fan of Bronx shoes. I have a great pair with a mid height wedge heel and side zips. They are just the right combination of on trend, lady like and comfortable to wear and easy to walk in. I often have problems finding the right footwear to go with different outfits. I love wearing dresses and skirts but for everyday wear when I like to walk as much as possible high heels might look great but they kill my feet. My Bronx shoes go perfectly with skirts and dresses and I can walk as far as I need to in comfort in them. They also give me a little bit of much needed height without going overboard for everyday wear.

I have just noticed that Spartoo have some great Bronx shoes with mid height heels and what is even better is that they are in the sale.

These Globe Heel shoes by Bronx have a really vintage feel about them and would look great with a mid length skirt or trousers.

These Sugar shoes by Bronx are perfect for when you need a smart pair of shoes. They are classic but with a twist and again just the right height heel.

These View shoes are a great choice of sandal for the summer. They have a solid wedge heel and open toe with a feminine ankle strap.

These Idol boots are good choice of boot for me with a sturdy heel. I also love the textured finish and cross over strap.

What do you think?

The Children's Birthday Party Circuit

Whilst many fashion bloggers have been out and about at Fashion Week, attending shows and parties, I have been on a party circuit of a different kind. The last week seems to have been full of children's birthday parties . I am not complaining though. For someone who spends so many hours sat at home in front of a computer working, a children's birthday party is a great chance to get out of the house, get a bit dressed up and have a good natter with the other mums. The younger children's parties seem to cater as much for the mums as the children these days with wine and nibbles and cupcakes to keep us going while the children bounce themselves silly on the bouncy castle. All that changes once they start school though and the mums just drop and run when it comes to birthday party time, so I am making the most of it while it lasts.

There are a few sort of unwritten rules on what a mummy should wear to a childrens birthday party. It kind of goes without saying that you shouldn't wear a really short skirt or low cut top, but you also don't want too look like you have tried to hard. High heels are pretty much out if the question as they are not good for trying to step over little children in. You also need to be able to comfortably sit in the floor to prevent the pass the parcel turning into all out war. I tend to opt for brighter colours and patterns as I guess I just think this is more child friendly than all black or dark colours which might look a bit scary! I avoid too many bright and clashing colours in case I get mistaken for the children's entertainment.

So here are a few of my most recent Children's Birthday Party and half term outfits.

Cardigan from Marks and Spencers, skirt, tights and flower hair clip - Dorothy Perkins, top - Next, bag - French Connection, shoes - Urban Outfitters,
leggings - topshop, dress worn as jacket- Urban Outfitters, boots - Po-Zu, snood- Next, top - charity shop.

Cardigan - Laura Ashley, Skirt - Preen at Debenhams, shoes - No Name, white top and necklace - presents

I hope you had a great weekend!

Bright Patterns With Neutrals

This week I am loving neutrals with colourful prints. I guess next week I will be back to clashing prints but they say a change is as good as a rest.

This outfit was a result of treating myself to two pieces from the designer at Debenhams range. The grey skirt is by Preen and part of the new Edition collection which will feature a range of contemporary designers starting with Preen, Jonathan Saunders and Jonathan Kelsey. It is a great alternative to jeans for me as it is versatile, comfy and goes with almost everything. Unfortunately it is a bit long but it rolls up quite neatly. I just couldn't resist the zebra blouse which is part of the H by Henry Holland range. I love fun and very affordable pieces in this collection and I know I will wear this loads.

This outfit with and without jacket is a bit of a mish mash but sometimes I prefer my outfits not to look too coordinated. The jacket I have had for ages and was from the Marks and Spencers Autograph Collection and is a real wardrobe staple which I wear constantly in the spring. As we have not quite arrived at Spring I added and extra cardigan layer (Matthew Williamson at Debenhams). The leggings were from the ASOS sale and are too long. I haven't got round to taking them up yet hence the wrinkles. The dress was by Mink Pink in the ASOS sale too and the scarf I think from ASOS a few years ago. The boots are El Naturalista.

Hope you are having a good week.

Tailored Jackets For Spring

Tailored jackets are one of my favourite pieces of clothing and the great news is that they are right on trend for SS11. They are great with jeans for a more casual outfit but can also be worn with a dress, skirt or tailored trousers for a smarter look. As I am quite short, fitted clothes tend to most flattering for me and a classic blazer is usually just about the right length too. For Spring 2011, there is a whole host of amazing tailored jackets and blazers out there. Here is just a few that I have spyed.

This simple style of black blazer is part of the Emma Watson for People Tree Collection. It has three quarter sleeves which are super flattering for petites and is hand woven in 50% silk and 50% fairtrade cotton.

Everyone should own a classic black tailored jacket. It is so verstaile for wearing with a party dress or day time outfit. This is one of those items that I think will get so much wear, it is worth investing in slightly better quality and cut as it is likely to get so much wear. I love this Navy Blazer by Paul Smith - well worth saving for and perfect for working the summers minimalist look.

For the spring and summer a white tailored jacket is a great choice as it goes with lighter outfits. White tailored jackets are also incredibly on trend this summer. I love this Cyril cropped blazer by Noir. Again cropped styles are great for petites.

Jersey blazers are another great variation on this theme. They are slightly more casual and a little more practical than a traditional tailored blazer. This one is from Boden and has a great contrast lining which shows when the sleeves are rolled up. It is also available in grey marl or navy Breton stripes (yet another key look for the season).
Of course a classic blazer is great, but I am also quite partial to a floral blazer. There are some great choices at Annie Greenabelle including this one made from reclaimed fabric.

Second hand and charity shops are usually great places to find tailored jackets. They are usually in great condition and if you look carefully you can find some really good quality choices.

Happy Hunting

Busy Bee Outfits

I seem to have been ridiculously busy over the last week or two and my poor old blog has become some what neglected. I have also had to cancel going to fashion week again! due to workload, grr. I will definitely be making an effort to say something intelligent or informative over the next week but for now just two outfits for the week (or one of them) that I was busy as a bee.

I made the skirt by cutting down a longer denim skirt. This is worn over People Tree leggings with a very very old top from Dorothy Perkins, I think it is about 10 years old but i don't think it looks at all out of fashion. I got the bag in the sale at Dorothy Perkins last year, the cardigan is by Fenn Wright Manson and the boots by Topshop.

To make a change from wearing my winter coat I decided to wear this Chanel style tweed jacket instead. It was from Marks and Spencers originally but I got it from a local charity shop and have been trying to find the right outfit to wear it with. I find it quite difficult to wear without looking over smart but I thought the denim skirt was a good way to dress it down.

Apologies about the messy dressing table in the photos. I have a new laptop and haven't sorted out the photo editing software yet.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend and finding time to relax

With warmest wishes

Patterned Cardigans For SS11

Lets face it we have a few months to go yet before the weather really starts to warm up but in true fashionista style, I have already started lustiing over beautiful summer dresses and even started digging out one or two from last year. I don't like to limit my summer dress wearing to those few unpredicatable weeks in the middle of the summer when the sun decides to come out, this seems like such a waste.

The cardigan is the perfect answer for multi seasoning those summer dresses and tops. For SS11 I have also been noticing a bit of a trend for some very pretty patterned cardigans. If you love pattern mixing like me a patterned cardigan is the perfect cover up for the spring and summer. For a simple but busy outfit you could layer over a simple striped top. But they are also great for brightening up a plain shift dress or pair of jeans. From florals to spots and cute little dogs to fruit, there is a patterned cardigan to suit most tastes. Here are my favourites:

Rose Printed Cardigan by Marks and Spencers

Kimchi and Blue Slub Floral Cardigan at Urban Outfitters
Black Eagle Cardigan- H By Henry Holland at Debenhams

white and black cherry cardigan by Oasis

Kanga Floral Cardigan By Paul Smith at My Wardrobe

Do you like any of these patterned cardigans? How would you wear them? #

Valentine's Weekend Outfits

This weekend I was unusually busy with lots of socialising.

On Friday night we went for tapas in a local tapas bar. I wore my a dress and leggings from People Tree and a my coat from Maison Scotch. The wedge boots are from Topshop.

On saturday we went for dinner at Cafe Rouge and then on to a comedy club. I wore a dress which I bought in the Oasis sales and leather jacket by Gestulz. The shoes were from Spartoo.

On Sunday I went out for lunch with my family and parents. I wore an old evening dress, t shirt from a charity shop which I then bleached and cardigan by Fenn Wright Mason. The boots were Topshop again and the vintage silk headscarf from Oxfam. The necklaces were presents.

I hope that you had a fun weekend.

Style Eyes Weekly Fashion Round Up

With only a few days until Valentines Day, I thought I would include something romantic in this post. I don't usually post about underwear but today I am making an exception. I recently recieved an email about Luva Huva underwear, a brand that I thought looks too good not to share with you. Luva Huva is the company of designer Joanna Ketterer that produces beautiful handmade lingerie using ethically souced fabrics. The designs are cute, pretty and feminine and even better they are offereing 20% off until Valentines Day when you enter LUVAHUVA at checkout.

For those who love animal prints, the luxury cashmere scarf and shawl company Wholly Goat has teamed up with the Snow Leopard Conservancy Fund and designed a luxury leopard print cashmere scarf with leopard print.  Hand woven by skilled artisans in Nepal and made from the highest quality Mongolian cashmere, the Kabita Snow Leopard Scarf comes in three beautiful colours. 25% of each online sale will be donated to the Snow Leopard Conservancy fund to help finance its crucial environmental work in the preservation of the Snow Leopards natural habitat. The project helps to protect the cats and the livelihood of the mountain goats herders who produce the cashmere. You can find out more at http://www.whollygoat.com/

Finally, I am a big fan of the Debenhams designer collections. They just seem much less hyped and more realistically priced than many of the other designer high street collaborations. So I was really excited to discover that tommorrow they will be launching /edition which will bring some great new contemporary designers to the high street. For spring there will be clothes by Johnathan Saunders and Preen and accessories by Johnathan Kelsey. For Autumn Roksanda Ilincic will join them. You can find out more here.

This Weeks Outfits - More Florals

Here are a few more outfits that I haven't had the chance to post this week this week my floral obsession continues. I treated myself a new silk scarves with a beautiful floral pattern and a handmade vintage cropped jacket (again floral) from the Oxfam website which were both great ways to brighten up a basic outfit.

Here is the jacket which has an amazing pattern and yellow lining. I think it is probably from the fifties. I love the slimming combination of slim fit black trousers and platform heels in this outfit, especially good for making legs look longer.

Vintage Jacket - Oxfam
Top - Asos
Jeans - Asos
Platform boots - Topshop
Necklace - local boutique

This is the mink pink dress that I recently bought in the sales. Obviously it is not really a winter piece of clothing but I am not going to let that stop me wearing it. I have added leggings and a mesh skirt and my biker style jersey jacket to keep warm. I am not sure about the grey jacket, I have a cropped leather jacket that would have looked 100 times better but was alas just not warm enough.

Jacket - Next
Dress - Mink Pink
Mesh Skirt - Topshop
Leggings - People Tree
Boots - as before

This  is my new (second hand) scarf. I love the combination of cream, purples and pinks in the design.
Top - Linea
Denim Skirt - Dorothy Perkins
Shoes - Bronx from Spartoo

Hope you are having a lovely weekend

Style Eyes Weekly Fashion Round Up 3/2/11

Last week I wrote about the Emma Watson collection for People Tree collection but I forgot to mention the equally if not more exciting collaboration between People Tree  and Laura Ashley. Packed with beautiful floral prints from the Laura Ashley archive collection and brightened up with contemporary colours for the modern day, this has given me yet more to lust over. The collection will be sold online and instore.

Margie of Margie Hearts Clothes has recently set up an Etsy shop Margie Hearts Vintage through which to sell her reworked vintage jewellery. She makes the most amazing headpieces and hand chains, really unique and beautiful. I definitely recommend a visit!

The Shopping Forecast has just launched some amazing fashion competitions where you can win lots of clothes. You can make an outfit with items from the site or a royal wedding themed outfit. If your outfits get the higest average vote or the most votes, you get £200/$300 to spend on clothes on the site. You can also earn points by voting, commenting sharing items and outfits from the site. The top five points earners each season can exchange their points for clothes.

Finally I have decided to get up with times and invest in a little technology to perhaps make my life a little easier when travelling. Depsite many people saying that Blackberrys are better, I decided to get an I phone 4. I am a bit of a techno phobe and I though it just looked easier. I was just wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere to buy an amazing cover so that it doesn't get ruined in my handbag (I did see a Lulu Guiness one) and any good aps (I don't even know where to start).
