About Me

Style Eyes Fashion Blog has now moved to Style Eyes Ethical Fashion Blog - I look forward to seeing you there.

I am a 30 something, mum and wife to Mr Style Eyes for over 10 years. Style Eyes Fashion Blog was born from my desire to do something creative and my love of clothes. With this blog I hope to inspire others to try out new looks and have fun with fashion as well as shopping more ethically and limiting the impact of their fashion on the environment.

Here are a few things that you may may find interesting (or you may not).

Background: I grew up in Southend on Sea before going to boarding school in Surrey.

Education: A degree in Environmental Life Science at Nottingham Uni and a course in dress making. I am currently working on  a diploma in fashion journalism. I am also a qualified Neuro Linguistic Practitioner (if you know what that means). I do have lots of other certificates and qualifications etc but none that are relevant to my life at the moment.

My Work: I gave up my day job in 2009 to work full time as a fashion blogger and marketer through my company Heathcote Communications. I love every day that I spend writing about fashion. I also have a clothes swapping website www.posh-swaps.com.

My Style: I don't think I really have a style. I just dress how I feel each day. I find it very difficult to define myself in any way as I just make it up as I go along and in many ways I am quite a random person. What I wear is partly dictated by my height though (I am only 5ft 2) and the practicalities of being a mum. I love bright colours, unusual accessories and shoes. I also like to look different but get quite a lot of inspiration from current fashions and trends.

Ethics: I try my best to shop ethically and minimise the impact of my fashion on the environment. Primarily I do so by trying to limit  my consumption by finding new and interesting ways to wear the clothes that I already have. I also buy second hand and vintage clothes, eco fashion and swap clothes to indulge my love of fashion. I am afraid I am not perfect though and sometimes my desire for something new overtakes me and I just can't help myself.

What I do: I seem to spend a lot of my time working but most of all I love spending time with my family. I also love Sub Aqua diving, sailing, travelling, camping, art, photography and going to the gym and would do more of all of these if time and money permitted.
